It’s time for America – and Colorado – to fall in love with freedom again!

We’ve already established the Free to Be Coalition nationally with events and efforts to protect free speech and viewpoint diversity on college campuses. Now we’d like to expand Free to Be to become a larger movement around protecting freedom in all areas of our lives.

College costs too much!

"Compared to other similarly sized colleges in different states, tuition and fee revenue in Colorado is collectively 18 percent higher. The Colorado State University system and the CU system are 15 percent and 34 higher, respectively."

College costs too much. Period.

We need to lower tuition. Lower student fees. Shift scholarships and grants to our CU Foundation (our endowment/charitable arm) so that students paying full price to come to CU aren't subsidizing other students that come for free or discounted rates. We need to stop building new buildings and focus on new more efficient and effective ways of delivering education. We need to keep students focused on core curriculum classes, fewer electives (degree in 3? degrees in 90 credits not 120?). We need to make it easier for high school students to get college credits.

We need to graduate students on time. The official four-year graduation rate for students attending public colleges and universities is ONLY 33.3%. The six-year rate is 57.6%. At private colleges and universities, the four-year graduation rate is 52.8%, and 65.4% earn a degree in six years.

To solve the student loan crisis, go to the root cause, college costs too much.
